EDDY CURRENT SEPARATOR

A powerful and effective solution for separating non-magnetic metal particles

Eddy current separator

The eddy current separator is used to separate non-magnetic metals from non-metallic materials. It works on the principle of eddy currents generated by a magnetic cylinder built into the transport system.

The magnetic cylinder (separator rotor), which rotates at high speed and rapidly changes magnetic fields, creates a magnetic field that briefly magnetizes even non-ferromagnetic metal materials. Since these particles have the same magnetic polarity as the rotor field, they repel each other, causing the particles to separate and automatically be removed from the conveyor belt.

  • Recycling industry – for separating aluminum, copper, and other non-magnetic metals from waste plastic, glass, or electronic device residues (e.g., e-waste).
  • Automotive industry – in car recycling for separating metal particles after crushing car bodies.
  • Waste management (municipal waste) – for sorting metals from mixed municipal waste or incineration residues.

Non-magnetic metal fraction

Contains aluminum, copper, brass, zinc, etc.

Non-metallic materials

Contains plastic, wood, glass, textiles, insulation, rubber, etc.

Vibro conveyor

Used to evenly distribute the fraction across the entire working width of the separator belt.

Material dosing

The non-magnetic metal fraction is dosed using a storage container via a belt conveyor.

Eddy current separator

It operates on the principle of eddy currents generated by a magnetic cylinder built into the transport system.

The material to be separated is transported across the separator by a robust conveyor belt made of durable rubber or polyurethane. The belt enables a uniform flow of material through the rotor’s operating area. The belt speed is adjustable and synchronized with the rotor’s rotation, which allows for precise adjustment of the separation process depending on the type and granulation of the material.

A manually adjustable flap allows for precise separation of non-ferrous metals from other materials. When vortex currents repel metal particles from different distances, they follow a parabolic path, while non-metallic materials fall straight down. A manually adjustable flap, located just below the rear part of the conveyor belt behind the rotor, determines the exact point of separation between the two currents. The user can easily adjust the position of the flap according to the size, weight, and composition of the material, which increases the efficiency of separation and the purity of the metal fraction obtained. Such a system allows for quick optimization of the separator’s operation without the need for complex mechanisms or automation, which is ideal for less demanding environments or for plants where input materials change frequently.

Key advantages:

    • Reliably separates aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-magnetic metals from mixed waste or ore.
    • Enables fast and continuous sorting of large quantities of material, increasing productivity.
    • Improved separation increases the quality of recycled materials, which means higher fraction value and less waste.
